Professor Alberto Fergusson is an M.D. He was trained as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and has contributed to rehabilitation in general. He is one of the world's foremost advocates of the human rights of the mentally ill, and has developed a unique alternative to traditional Asylum like treatments. He was the Founder of several movements in Colombia and in the US. He has been teaching at different Universities for the past 28 years. He described Accompanied Autoanalysis and later Accompanied Selfrehabilitation for the first time. He has published more than thirty peer-reviewed articles, including several in freudian metapsychology. In April 1989 he founded the Institute of Accompanied Self Rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of Ashoka.
